Automation in the Grizly warehouse with Compact Lift

Grizly.cz is one of the leading Czech e-commerce retailers specializing in healthy food and nutrition. Its portfolio includes thousands of products – from nuts and dried fruit to cereals, tea, coffee, and even natural cosmetics. The dynamic growth of both product range and customer base created the need to significantly strengthen the company’s logistics background and make order fulfillment more efficient.

The challenge: space and speed

Rapidly growing inventory placed increasing demands on warehouse space utilization as well as accuracy in order dispatching. Grizly was looking for a solution that would maximize the use of warehouse height, speed up goods handling, and at the same time provide ergonomics and safety for operators.

As part of the project, VertiFlex delivered a solution based on the installation of two Compact Lift vertical storage systems with tray dimensions of 3660 × 820 mm. The first lift has a height of 8,726 mm, while the second unit measures 8,426 mm. Each vertical lift is equipped with 65 trays with a load capacity of up to 500 kg, providing a total of 130 trays for storing large volumes of nuts, dried fruits, and other products. The systems are equipped with a full-color LEDbar guidance strip for precise operator navigation and pick displays above the access opening, showing detailed information about the picked goods, including an image and tray position for faster orientation.

Thanks to their robust construction and high tray load capacity (500 kg), it is possible to safely store a wide assortment of products – from small packages to heavier items. Vertical tray movement to an ergonomic access height ensures comfortable and fast handling.

VertiNode® control system

The delivery also included the VertiNode® control software, equipped with the Basic and Integration with PTL Control modules (management of pick-to-light systems).

• The Basic module provides item management, inbound and outbound processes, FIFO handling, and inventory control.
• The Integration module enables connection to the higher-level system, management of order picking, and collaboration with pick-to-light indicators.

This system links the physical devices with digital warehouse management, ensuring higher speed and accuracy.
